Sometimes the scariest place you can be is your comfort zone. But, it’s also very okay to shake things up…change your routine for the better, change yourself for the better, choose yourself for once.

As I coached my last class in this space tonight that allowed me to start my dream, I found myself hit with some unexpected emotions. Tears of course, because that’s my default, BUT…

Gratitude overpowers them all.

This small, intimate space allowed me to start the gym of my dreams and create a safe space for so many people, myself included.

As I was faced with picking a name for CrossFit Golden Warrior almost 5 years ago, I knew I wanted it to be powerful. I wanted it to encompass more than just physical health. For me, spiritually, gold is a healing color. Warrior somewhat speaks for itself, but I wanted it to embody the fact that everyone who walks in the door has a story they are dealing with behind the scenes and we are all just fighting to be the best version of ourselves in some way. I wanted all walks of life to feel welcome. I wanted people to know they could do hard things, things they never thought possible.

We helped people get healthy, we helped people lose weight, we helped people with their mindset, we educated people on pregnancy and postpartum and pelvic floor, we held space for people when they worked out through tears.

As I sat in my empty gym tonight and reflected about the past 4 1/2 years, I’m so proud of what this gym has become. The inside of these four walls have heard some deep, vulnerable conversations, and also some of the funniest times I have ever experienced in my life. I have made friends for a lifetime. Lives have been changed for the better. My life is better because of this gym. I’m proud I never gave up. I’m proud I pushed through the hard times, because the good has incredibly outweighed the bad.

This place does not exist without all the coaches and members. I’m forever indebted to each and every one of you for taking a chance on me and helping me achieve my dream.

As we prepare to move tomorrow, I am so excited for what the future holds for this new space, for this community.

We ain’t no where near done, baby. We just getting started 😘

Meet Britt.

We are about to have a very real conversation about her and her progress.

If I could pick a person in this very moment to capture consistency and hard work, it would be her.

This is her second rope climb ever. I got too excited and didn’t video her first.

She has a story, just like the rest of us. She’s overcome trauma, she’s overcome cancer, she’s overcome heartache, she came to the gym when she had a 50% rotator cuff tear and didn’t want surgery, so I programmed nothing but squats for 3-4 months. She didn’t stop when things got hard. She used to it to fuel her.

I think sometimes people might look at Britt now and think she’s lucky or they want to be like her. But she’s not lucky. She’s fought for everything she has. She’s worked hard.

In the past year, she has dialed in her nutrition, locked in on gym time, lost the weight, been able hit numerous PR’s in the gym and outside of the gym.

Why?

Because she’s disciplined as fuck.

You want REAL results? Inconsistent attendance at the gym won’t get you there. Inconsistent eating won’t get you there.

The boring, mundane, disciplined actions will get you there. Showing up when you don’t want to will get you there. Balancing your nutrition habits will get you there.

I would argue that Britt is probably the healthiest she’s been in her life. All we did was provide the space. SHE is the one that put in the work. HER progress is because of HER. 🖤

I challenge you to add in an extra day at the gym. Drink more water. Do the boring stuff. I promise you, that 1% change you make each day will add up.

She told me yesterday she wanted to workout and I told her it would be a great opportunity to see how she felt afterwards.

She came home, she chilled out, she slept like a baby, and off to school she went today in a much better place than yesterday.

I think, as a society, we tend to forget how much moving our body can do for our minds, even as kids 🖤

Establishing a fitness routine is a necessary maintenance item to keep your body going, keep your heart, bones, and ligaments healthy. Establishing a fitness routine is way more than aesthetics.

You wouldn’t wait until your engine is blown up to do something about your car…so why would you wait until something catastrophic happens to your body to get healthy?

The annual holiday post….we’re entering the last quarter of the year. A quarter that tends to be filled with Halloween candy, turkey, baked goods, and lots of alcohol.

And you know what? That’s okay. It’s okay to eat and drink and over indulge. Will you feel bloated or will your body feel a little out of whack, sure. We are all aware of the consequences when we overindulge in something our body isn’t used to consuming on a regular basis.

But I will definitely be having some Reese pumpkins because 4g of protein is better than none.

I will have some turkey and mashed potatoes, and Mac and cheese, and too many calories, but who cares? Because family, and gatherings, and fun times are irreplaceable.

I will bake Christmas goodies with my kids and overeat them, and probably have one too many glasses of wine…

But WHO CARES.

A couple of holiday parties or events are not going to ruin your progress or gains.

What will ruin it? Over eating or under eating consistently for weeks. Not choosing to move your body intentionally. Completely giving up on the gym because you fall into the cycle of, I’ll just start or restart on January 1.

I firmly believe the ladies don’t even come here to work out, they come here to cut up with their friends lol.

I’m joking, kind of.

I watch people walk through these doors on their highest days and tell me about job promotions, and kid achievements, and being happy.

And I also watch the same people walk through these doors on their lowest days, simply surviving through the stress of life.

Yes, the workout absolutely matters, but for myself, it’s more than a workout. Sometimes, outside of the gym, there is no one else to talk to or commiserate with. So we all come here. We workout, we cut up, sometimes we cry, we definitely laugh, a lot…4:30 is literally a class of comedians lol.

We are all human, and in these 4 walls, there are no masks. Be happy, be sad…all while knowing, we got you 🖤🖤
